NASCAR removed the passenger seats because drivers hated how astronauts kept riding along with them and loudly announcing “Ahh, what a nice and relaxing drive.”

They do pilot them on descent. They’re mostly along to do other things, though. And also to save the day when SHTF.

I’m trying to think of stuff that fits in the Slow but dangerous, or the fast but safe quadrant. All I can think of right now is maybe Submarines are slow, but crashes are likely fairly dangerous to the occupants, and fast but safe... I got nothing.

Thank you for adding the
alt-text
. It bugs me to no end to see XKCD images that omit that.
Demon-Xanth knows how to operate a street.

Apparently rockets need to hit 28,000 km/hr to reach space, and if something goes wrong your chances of survival are literally zero.
You’re giving nitro cars
far
too much credit.

I was thinking initial acceleration and not top speed- in which case fuel cars get their asses kicked.
